VISAKHAPATNAM-THE CITY OF DESTINY

Visakhapatnam is a District of Andhra Pradesh situated in North East part of the State with the Bay of Bengal as Coastal belt.This land is a natural scenic beauty for Hill Stations, Beaches, Waterfalls. Visakhapatnam is also having IT hub and many reputed Educational Institutions, Shipyard, Steel plant and an International Cricket Stadium, Andhra University and many more.

Here are some places for you to add in your tour schedule.

1.Araku Valley :

Araku Valley is a hill station surrounded by forests greenery. This is one of the best places with best weather conditions which makes you pleasant. Araku Valley is native to many Tribal people. There is also a Museum reflecting the indigenous Dance of Tribes, and also Showcasing the Handicrafts of Local Tribes. There are resorts available if you are willing to stay in the lap of nature. If your are a foodie then there is a special natured food' BAMBOO CHICKEN '  waiting for you where raw chicken is stuffed into Bamboo and cooked.

How to reach :
Araku Valley is about 110km far to Visakhapatnam. From Visakhapatnam, there is a daily train available to Araku Valley which travel's through the dense forest, and covers Waterfalls. You can also reach Araku Valley by bus.There are Government and private Tourism Travel's available near  RTC Complex which is 2km far from Visakhapatnam Railway station.

2. BORRA CAVES :

Borra Caves are million years old limestone Caves which are deepest Caves in the country. These Natural Caves are discovered by William who belongs to Geological Survey of India in 1807. These Caves are situated in Ananthagiri Hills of the Eastern Ghats occupying 2sqm area.

There is one small Mythological story behind Borra Caves. Once one cow herd lost his one of the cows while grazing, he found that the cow was fallen in the Caves and he went into the Caves, there he found one Shiva Linga in Caves and thereafter a small Temple was built for Lord Shiva in Borra Caves.

How to reach :
Borra caves are 32km far from Araku Valley and 90km far to Visakhapatnam. Local transportation is available from Araku Valley.

3. Katika Waterfalls :

Katika Waterfalls are one of the outstanding scenic beauty for the nature lovers. Katika is the name of the Village near to the Waterfalls and hence it was named after it. River Gostani is the water source for Katika Falls which Cascades from the 100ft height.

How to reach :
Katika Waterfalls are just 7km far from Borra Caves and about 40km away from Araku Valley and 90km from Visakhaptanam.

4. Rama Krishna Mission Beach :

Rama Krishna Mission beach is well known as RK beach is one of the best Beaches you can visit in Visakhapatnam. This beach is very near to Dockyard and Dolphin Nose mountain.Y you should not miss INS KURSURA Submarine of INDIAN NAVY. There is also a lighthouse near to a beach. There are also other Beaches Yarada, Bheemili, Rushikonda in Visakhapatnam.

How to Reach : 
This is just 4km far from the Visakhapatnam Railway station.There are local cabs, buses and auto rickshaws available all the time.

5. Kailasagiri :

Kailasagiri is one of the Devotional places you should not miss. There is a big LORD SHIVA PARVATHI statue on the Hilltop and you can have Titanic Beach view from the top of the Kailasagiri hill. There is a larger area covered with greenery as parks which will be recreation for you. Ropeway Cable cars also available to make you feel more excited.

How to reach :
From RK beach this is about 2km and from Railway station 6-7km to travel. Special Buses are frequently available to KAILASAGIRI HILLS from Bus Complex and Railway station.

6. ZOO PARK :

Indira Gandhi Zoological Park is a National Zoo Park with a vast area of 625 acres having near about 850animals and more than 75 species of birds and animals stands as 3rd largest Zoo in India. You can see White Tigers which are very less in numbers in India. Zoo Park timings are 9 am to 5 pm. Entry ticket will be 20rupees for adults and 10rupees for Children.

How to reach :
 Zoo Park is beside the National Highway 5.This is 11km far from Visakhaptanam Railway station.You can travel by Bus and Auto rickshaws, cabs are available.
